Your state association needs your input on what to address in next year’s legislative session. The Texas REALTORS® Public Policy Committees have recommended several positions for the association to consider as priorities for the 87th Texas Legislature, which convenes in January—now they need your input.

Issues include homeowners associations, eminent domain, infrastructure, and property taxes. Your input in this member-driven process ensures our legislative priorities are responsive to issues facing Texas real estate.
I am a Real Estate Broker and an Architect. I also serve in my neighborhood HOA Architectural Committee. My own HOA works and behaves in very human like attitude. But not every HOA committee is like that. In one of my single family type Senior Housing Architectural Project design (Humble area), I am facing rejection without showing any specific reason for possible corrections, is absolutely unacceptable. But the power given to HOA is almost impassable. Most members are not even qualified with right background to serve the committee, but they are given the power. I am a Texas Realtor and Accountant. I have lived in communities with home owner associations for the past 25 years. Some are better than others in that the good ones understand they are a community servant. They partner with the homeowners for the greater good of the entire community such as lawn maintenance, illegal/excessive parking, transparency with the financials, etc. The not so good ones get drunk with power, nitpicking every little things to get the homeowners “on the hook” to exert their power.
