Texas REALTORS® is sad to share that former Vice President of Governmental Affairs Mark Lehman has passed away. He served the association for more than two decades.
“Mark had a warm and gentle nature about him,” said Texas REALTORS® President/CEO Travis Kessler. “He captured our hearts every time he walked into a room. Whether talking to a colleague, friend, REALTOR® or elected officials, he always made everyone feel important and valued.”
Lehman’s gift for writing, his eloquent presentational style, and his vast knowledge of politics and legislative issues created a culture of involvement and engagement in advocacy for the REALTOR® organization. Texas REALTORS® has grown into one of the most respected organizations in the country because of his generosity, creativity, and kindness of spirit.
Upon Lehman’s retirement in 2019, Texas REALTORS® created the Lehman Local Board Government Affairs Achievement Award, which is presented annually to a local board of REALTORS® that has demonstrated excellent in fundraising and grassroots advocacy.
“It was an honor and privilege to work closely with Mark because of his political acumen and the guidance and wisdom he shared with all of us,” said Kessler.
The Texas REALTORS(R) has lost a very valuable member! He will be missed by all that knew him, knew of him, and the ones that will follow and learn about him! He left a wonderful legacy. Thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends! RIH, Mark, you are truly one of a kind! Thank you for all of the work you did for our profession!
I did not know Mark Lehman, but I wish I did. He sounds like a person we all should strive to be. May God rest his soul in peace.
Mark was a true leader and statesman, always knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. He will always be remembered and missed by many!

Those of us who are growing older know that along life’s journey you get to meet only a few individuals who have the ability to light up a room when they walk in the door. Mark Lehman was that type of person. He will be greatly missed.
No words can express the pleasure and learning experience of working with Mark as a TREPAC Trustee 20 years ago. His knowledge, dedication, and presentation were unsurpassed. Someone said that he knew all the congress, senate, their aides, secretaries, etc and had their cell #’s. Someone else said – more importantly – they all knew him! We lost a great man.
I’m truly sorry to hear about Mark passing. We all going to miss his smile!

Mark was truly a wonderful human being. His smile had a lasting effect on many people. His knowledge and passion for life was a gift in and of itself. He was so gentle and caring and will be missed so much. Prayers lifted for his family. RIP Mark – it will be a joyous day when we meet again in Glory!

Mark’s passing breaks my heart. He was a good friend, a confidant and an amazing asset to Texas REALTORS and to humankind. I think of him and alternately cry or smile, remembering the good times.

I do remember seeing Mr. Lehman in one of the magazines. To the family I offer my condolences to his friends and all collegues — we need to be more like Mark Lehman was – see you in heaven.
