The 2018 Profile of Texas Home Buyers and Sellers was recently released, and while Texas followed many national trends, it also departed in some significant ways.

The share of buyers purchasing new construction was 29% in Texas, while new-home buyers made up only 14% of all U.S. homebuyers.

Nationally, the most common reason people cited for selling their home was that it was too small. Texas sellers were instead focused on being closer to family and friends, with 22% citing it as their reason for moving and only 8% saying their home was too small.
